My World Turned Upside Down

OK folks, here is the very best "news" I've read in a while.

Read on if you dare....

This comes from today's WSJ, who gets its story from Psychology Today.
"Elizabeth Svoboda says many introverts have stronger responses to some expeiences than the three-fourths of the world's population that can be considered extroverted. Amanda Guyer, a psychologist at the U.S. National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Md., has found that individuals who withdraw from other people's company are more sensitive than extroverts to a wide range of positive emotional cues. Situations rife with emotional triggers, such as parties, can be wearying for such people, while solitude serves as a refreshing balm. Ms. Svoboda says studies have shown that creative activities provoke more pleasure in introverts than extroverts."

MORE SENSITIVE!!! Now that's what I'm talkin' about!!

my sensitive man-daddy...

btw, I took personality tests to let my brain rest for a few minutes today and most of them say I am very much equally introverted and extrverted, believe it or not. I think we should all take the myers-briggs test or the keirsey temperment test and post the results for all to see. whaddya say? common!

"ISTJs are most at home with 'just the facts, Ma'am." --that's you.

I'm an ENFP, or occasionally an ENFJ, depending on my mood. we're opposites! (do not bother me with your details and mundane ration--they do not fit with my higher ideals.)

"Since emotional excitement is usually an important part of the ENFP's life, and because they are focused on keeping "centered", the ENFP is usually an intense individual, with highly evolved values."

I'm intense.

Okay, I'm in as INFJ if my old memory serves me correctly.....

Giant daughter, don't forget who is the original NF in the fam!

So is that credit or blame that I get?

Why is there a garbage can on my last post? Is that to be taken personally?

Elise said...

oh mommy. :] the garbage cans show up on your comments because you can delete them if you want to.

you're an introvert? really? hmm...where did I get the E and the P from?

Mom, this is you...

"Counselors can be hard to get to know. They have an unusually rich inner life, but they are reserved and tend not to share their reactions except with those they trust. With their loved ones, certainly, Counselors are not reluctant to express their feelings, their face lighting up with the positive emotions, but darkening like a thunderhead with the negative. Indeed, because of their strong ability to take into themselves the feelings of others, Counselors can be hurt rather easily by those around them, which, perhaps, is one reason why they tend to be private people, mutely withdrawing from human contact. Counselors value their integrity a great deal, but they have intricately woven, mysterious personalities which sometimes puzzle even them."

Also, it says you have ESP.

whoa there, Nellies. We seem to have gotten way off track here, what with personality tests and all.

Besides, Elise, we all know you cheated...

The point of the article bears repetition here: us introverts (true introverts) are more sensitive to a wide range of emotional cues, and we experience more pleasure from creative activities. Isn't that wild?!!
