Massachusetts Institute of Technology is offering many of its courses to the public through a new venture called Open Course Ware (OCW). I've looked it over and it's pretty cool, and the offerings are varied and many - there is something there for everyone - physics, engineering, political science, anthropology, management, economics, accounting, and much, much more. You can get lecture notes, assignments, and sometimes even video of lectures, as well as assigned readings and other resources.
Having taken many self-directed classes like this - with little, if any, interaction with the professor and scheduling left entirely up to self-discipline, I have to say that it might be hard to stay focused when there is no grade or credit. But then again, if your motivation is purely to learn, finishing may not be necessary, or it may come easily - I don't know. Simply availing yourself of the opportunity might be what is important. Check it out!
My first attempt looks like it is going to be 15.535 Business Analysis Using Financial Statements, a subject that I covered at CityU but not deep enough for my curiosity!
