Misterrrr Mayor!

So I got to go hear Mayor Giuliani speak today, front row. No big deal :].
He was actually really good though--well spoken and humble. He did the whole baseball bit and moved right into keeping the country safe and turning around the economy, with some hillary bashing along the way. He really broke down basic republican economic theory, explaining how cutting taxes actually leads to higher revenue and pointing out that for the leading dems, this stuff is all theoretical because none have even had to balance a budget, in comparison to his successful fiscal policies in NYC. He did an extended critique of Hillary's latest "baby-bond" idea, using it as a case study in the difference between the way he and she think. Interesting stuff!
I also found out that one of my roomates, featured in the above picture, is the niece of the mayor of Houston, who apparently won with like 90% of the votes and is thinking of running for governor, then president. I smell a potential internship/job?

I'm glad you had the opportunity to hear/see him. For some inexplicable reason (inexplicable to me, anyhow) the evangelical community appears to be against him - ostensibly for his social views. I think he'd make a pretty good president, and probably is the best of the bunch running on both sides right now.

This Houston mayor - before you hitch your wagon you'd better consider his political views.

oh I know he's a democrat. he's and old school, evangelical democrat. I love it.
really? I thought you were all about mr. thompson.

Okay, let's get a couple of things straight here. First of all, you wouldn't recognize an "old school" democrat if he/she bit you on your behind. (Which they will, btw.) Can you give me 3 characteristics that define an old-school democrat?

Second, I never laid claim to being "all about" anybody. I may have expressed a desire for other candidates to enter the fray, due to the deciding lack of presence of anyone to ignite my interest, and therefore looked favorably upon a Thompson candidacy. However, truth be told, I still can't find anyone that makes me give a rip.

BTW, your man Obama has as his very senior foreign policy advisor a 34 year old noobie, whose only foreign policy experience is having been a staffer on the Senate foreign relations committee or some such duty. Oh yea, he's a Marine, too. That makes him supremely qualified to advise a presidential candidate on the nuances of negotiations with North Korea, or the deployment of a ballistic shield in Turkey, despite the objections of Russia. Obama continues to display an disappointing immaturity, politically speaking, that is.

Emphasizing justice and REAL equal opportunity, characterized by strongly supporting the Four Freedoms: freedom of speech, freedom of worship, freedom from want, and freedom from fear. So he'd be tough on catching criminals without over sentencing, he'd be all about equal opportunity without redistribution, he'd believe strongly in separation of church and state as it applies to gay marriage and vouchers, and he would support free speech even at the cost of flag burning.

I stopped supporting Obama at the beginning of summer, when he started to make naive mistakes. I think it was the Pakistan speech that tipped me. I agree that he is politically immature, and would like him to try again in 8 years.

Freedom from want? Freedom from fear? Wow, I want a mayor like that, 'cause I'm afraid that the Tigers aren't going to get any good pitchers over the off-season. And since good pitching, especially middle relief, is what they lacked this season, well, that would make them a great team next year.

Sounds like he walks on water, too?

So, you are for Clinton now?

oh come on...

I don't know. She's my front-runner, but a lot can change in a year. All I want for sure right now is a Clinton-Giuliani race.

Every time I hear Hillary talk my checkbook cries a little bit.

"Every child born in America should get $5000"

Uhhh... what? and how will we pay for this random 20 billion dollar per year idea?

--sigh--

Thanks to O'Malley I am getting hit with a MD sales tax and income tax hike, and now I get to look forward to paying for "Hillary-care" and "free money for other peoples kids".

Awesome.

hopefully she wont win, but promising people money and "free" stuff makes people want to vote for you.
