Tough Joe

Senator and presidential candidate Joe Biden is a serial foot-in-mouther. I've been waiting for him to make the presidential run enjoyable; unfortunately he's kind of disappointed me with this one (and this might eventually be his undoing). Tough Joe is going to shove the recently-vetoed war funding bill down the President's throat.
Just do a google search on "cowboy politics" to see how the left derides the "tough talk" of our Texan President, whose cowboy accent, mannerisms and colloquialisms apparently embarrass us in front of the whole world (France, especially...). Don't hold your breath waiting for the east coast liberal elitist Senator Biden to receive equal criticism.
The really funny thing is President Bush is totally believable; Biden, on the otherhand, is a windbag.

UPDATE: Yes, this is the same Joe Biden who, as a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, said in Januaray, the he and his collegues were trying to keep their committee "a place of sanity and civility in a polarized and partisan time." Apparently bragging that he would shove a bill down the President's throat is both sane and civil in Joe's world.

I actually have liked Biden more than a lot of other democratic canadates. maybe I havn't looked close enough, and I know there are things I don't agree with him on, but when he was on meet the press and the presidential debate, he came off very well.

I'm just trying to pick the lesser of a bunch of evils here.

Biden is very likable, in part because he is smart, animated, and eloquent. Unfortunately, he is a total blow-hard liberal elitist. He has a long and well-documented history in the Senate, so I would challenge you to take a good hard look at some of his speeches during high profile committee meetings or in the well of the Senate.

One of his major liabilities is his temper, and the way his anger comes right out of his mouth. That is why I called him a serial foot-in-mouther, because he is just that. Again, I would challenge you to do some serious digging.

Finally, did you know he's run for president before? Indeed, but was forced to pull out when one of his speeches was found to be lifted almost word-for-word from a speech from a British labor party politician. "I started thinking as I was coming over here..." is how he started the speech, which included no acknowledgment of the real author. Dukakis' campaign ate him alive (it was during the primaries) and he had to drop out. Yes, that's right, I said he lost out to Dukakis. Its taken him this long to get his dignity back.

Turns out he's pretty much of a serial plagiarist, as well. Do a google search on Biden plagiarism. He's actually in the plagiarists hall of fame, for what it's worth.

Matt, I truly respect your desire to find someone in the democratic presidential hopefuls to respect. And I don't want to take my word for it, but, I have a news flash for you: don't hold your breath. I've forged my politics over many years of observation, listening, and judging outcomes. There is a reason that the gaggle of politicians, including but not limited to: Kennedy, Biden, Kerry, Schumer, Leahy, Levin, Clinton, Durbin, Feingold, Reid, Pelosi, Murtha, Gore, ad nausium, all make my blood boil. There are few democrats that are not elitist liberals, and liberalism in this form is simply untenable. Most of the "good" democrats have been ostracized and marginalized (like Leiberman, Zell Miller) and would admit, in a moment of candor, that the party has drifted far from its sanity and good policy. Not that you will find much better on the other side of the aisle right now, but I don't think you can find a "lesser evil" that is worth his/her weight in bat guano.
