on a political note (which, for the record, I am not against!), what's with the Land of Mary dropping out of college? how do her residents feel about it?
Sorry to have disappointing responses. For some reason I can't explain, I just couldn't get too worked up over Maryland's electoral college votes. Maybe I just didn't see the threat. Then today, I read this in the WSJ regarding the new Maryland law:
"Besides serving Al Gore's ego, however, the [law], for now, is mere political theater. It won't actually take effect until states with at least a total of 270 electoral votes - enough to win the presidency - enact the same law."
In other words - never.
I didn't know this about the law, but it explains the general lack of conversation about it, and perhaps, in some metaphysical way, de-motivated me to take it very seriously.
